JUDGE ISENBERG EASILY DEFEATS RAYNOR IN GOP RUNOFF

JUDGE ISENBERG EASILY DEFEATS RAYNOR IN GOP RUNOFF By Kathy Jackson Published 06-08-1986

Republican incumbent Randall Isenberg easily beat defense lawyer Steve Raynor in Saturday's runoff for the judgeship of County Criminal Court No. 10.

With all 295 precincts reporting, Isenberg received 69.34 percent of the vote to Raynor's 30.66 percent. There is no Democratic nominee seeking the office.

"We had some pretty outstanding figures, and I'm very pleased and honored that the voters of Dallas County have chosen me to continue serving as judge,' Isenberg, 32, said from Republican headquarters.

"I think that the voters evaluated both candidates and based their decisions on that."

Isenberg was endorsed in the campaign by both Dallas newspapers and the Committee for a Qualified Judiciary.

In the Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace race, Republican incumbent Charles Luedtke lost his bid for re-election to former municipal court judge Mike Cantrell. With all precincts reporting, Cantrell won the Republican nomination with 56.29 percent of the vote. Luedtke had 43.71 percent of the vote.

Cantrell, 28, will run against Democrat J.D. Shackelford in November.

"I think that this campaign boiled down to the issue of truth versus un-truth,' Cantrell said. "I think that we ran a very positive race. And all I can say is thank goodness that truth triumphed in this case.'

Luedtke had predicted a close race. "But we were the underdog and it's kind of hard to come from behind,' he said. "We were just outspent by so much.'

With all 455 precincts reporting, George Street won the Democratic nomination for the Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace post. Street had 66.16 percent of the vote, while his opponent, former highway patrolman Leonard M. Rose, received 33.84.

"I feel good that we worked hard -- my campaign staff and all my workers,' said Street, 47. "It makes you feel good when you feel that you've worked hard.'

Street will face Republican Sandra Jones, a court administrator, in November.
