Federal Criminal Defense

Dallas Attorney Defending People in Federal Court

The federal court system is different than the Texas state court system. In order to build the best possible defense, you want a lawyer who understands the challenges you will face and options available when facing federal charges. At the Dallas Law Offices of Randall B. Isenberg, we handle federal criminal defense for the accused throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Similar to the state court system, all felonies at the federal level are charged by indictment, where the prosecutor presents evidence to a grand jury. The grand jury then decides whether or not there is probable cause to believe the defendant committed a specific crime.

Although defense counsel cannot be in the grand jury room while the prosecutor presents evidence, the grand jury process provides many opportunities for an experienced lawyer to start building your defense.

In federal court indictment hearings, you want to take action as soon as possible, and the potential benefits for pre-indictment intervention are greater than in Texas grand jury proceedings. That is because federal investigations are often more complex and can last a long time as they extend to cover a growing number of targets, subjects, and other people of interest.

Handling cases in all Texas federal courts, including the Northern District court, we handle grand jury indictment hearings for a wide range of federal charges, including:

  • Drugs
  • White Collar Crimes: Conspiracy, Public Corruption, Tax Offenses, Corporate Fraud
  • Homeland Security
  • Weapons Offenses
  • RICO (Racketeering)

When you take early action, defense counsel can clarify your status, monitor the progress of the investigation, and engage with the U.S. Attorney's office and FBI to protect your interests. If you are summoned to appear before the grand jury as a witness, we can help you prepare your testimony, understand your obligations, and avoid mistakes that could expose you to worse troubles.
